Hello! My name is Maya and I am the creator of the Oasis Organization. I'm from Greensboro, NC. I am an Alumna of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I have lived majority of my life in North Carolina and am now beginning a new chapter in Virginia.
For years I held on to secret that, in a way, became additional trauma that I had to overcome. I am now at a place where I want to let go of this “secret” and set an example for others suffering in silence. I proud to say that I am a Suicide Attempt Survivor and this is an ongoing battle.
I started Oasis in 2018 because I wanted to create an outlet where African American youth can ask questions and discuss topics (ex: racism, mental health, suicide, rape, abuse) that are otherwise seen as taboo within our culture and society. I know outlets like this would have been extremely beneficial for me in my formative years and I recognize my privilege of being born in a more progressive era than my ancestors. Mental health is not a “Millennial” or ‘GenZ” issue; we all have brains and I believe that being open to learning and talking about our how our brain works will help us understand ourselves and our peers a lot better. We are all different but very much the same.

Our Team
Tia A.
Hi!
My name is Tia and I’m from Greensboro, North Carolina. I received by Bachelors from East Carolina University majoring in Family and Community Services and currently work as Registered Behavior Technician implementing ABA Therapy.
I battled depression and anxiety in high school and college, but fortunately I had family and friends who helped me overcome those challenges. As a part of the Oasis team, I’m here to give you that same support!
You matter. You have a purpose. You’re not alone.
Chloe B.
Hi there!
I'm Chloe. I am a recent graduate of Spelman College where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I'm currently preparing to transition into dental school to pursue a career as a dentist.
Having a deep commitment to holistic health and its effect on our overall well-being, I work to utilize the practice and principles of yoga as a tool for community outreach in Atlanta, Georgia and the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina.
On my own journeys to healing, I've learned to be deliberate about prioritizing my mental and physical health. Eleanor Brown says "When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” Oasis is here to help bring you the replenishment that you're most deserving of.
I am so glad to be here and I am so glad that you're here.
Chardae C.
My name is Chardae Carter and I’m from Atlanta, Georgia. I received my Bachelors from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte majoring in Marketing, and currently work as the Marketing Coordinator at The Body Well Chiropractic.
While in college, I was in a verbally abusive relationship, which caused a lot of self-doubt and sadness within myself. Post relationship, I found healing and relief through having a strong support system in my friends and family. I found peace in self-care and meditation. I hope you choose Oasis to connect to people like yourself, and find some peace amongst your peers and mentors!
A. Logan
My name is Albert Logan, but everyone usually just calls me Logan. I am an Event Coordinator and Caterer from Greensboro, NC.
( HMU for all of your event services needs! 😂)
Having dealt with anxiety, depression and a low self esteem I know what it's like to internalize your emotions. However through my process of taking control of my mental and physical health I've seen that Prayer, Finding ways to Express Yourself and Talking to Friends and Family are key.
All of my friends here at Oasis are excited and we cant wait to help in any way that we can!
Vivian P.
Hey, I'm Vivian!
I'm from Greensboro, NC and I'm an Alumna of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte majoring in biology with a minor in psychology.
While I've been in college I've dealt with mild depression and anxiety. I've struggled on how to deal with these issues but I've found that talking and releasing these feelings help in a major way. Oasis is a great way to connect to people like yourself and find someone who can really understand and help you, however that may be!

Hi! My name is Raven. I'm from Wilmington, NC but I am currently a student at Clemson University (Go Tigers!). I dabble in social media management, graphic design, coding, videography, and video editing.
Throughout my life, I have dealt with and continue to deal with depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I have learned to depend on my faith and support system to get me through the hardest of times. I would love the opportunity to be a support system for anyone who needs it.
Remember, it gets better.
